08102017: #SARDINIA – DREAM ISLAND

Going to an island is always a good idea. Going to Italy, too. Combining both is a great idea!

Urlaub auf der Insel ist immer eine Idee wert. Nach Italien reisen auch. Beides kombiniert ist eine fantastische Idee!

Taking three days off I started my journey on Saturday morning. My flight was departing from Munich my with a quick stop in Milan. Almost a whole day I went over the Fashion Week (carrying my trolley behind me), which was a great experience especially having the honor to watch the Missoni Spring/ Summer 2018 show. The runway was placed in a garden, the sky covered with colorful silk scarves. Music on and go. Colorful as always Missoni has shown beautiful summer dresses with XXL hats. The atmosphere in the suburb of Milan was amazing! A great final before getting back to the airport and continue the journey to the actual destination: Sardinia.

Drei Tage Urlaub plus Wochenende und los gehts. Samstagmorgen, MUC –> MXP. Kurzer Stopp in Mailand. Einen Tag laufe ich mit meinem Köfferchen durch die ganze Stadt darf mir verschiedene Präsentationen auf der Fashion Week ansehen. Eine spannende Erfahrung mit absolutem Highlight: Die Missoni Spring/ Summer 2018 Fashion Show. Der Laufsteg führt durch einen verträumten Garten und die Abendsonne scheint durch die bunten Seidentücher, die die gesamte Location bedecken. Musik an und go. Farbenfroh wie immer präsentiert Missoni traumhafte Sommerkleider mit XXL-Hüten. Die Atmosphäre im kleinen Vorort von Mailand ist der Hammer! Ein großartiges Finale vor meinem Weiterflug zum eigentlichen Urlaubsort: Sardinien.

Arriving on Saturday late night, my parents caught me from Alghero (one of three airports in Sardinia). Near by the town our little Ferienhaus was placed in the middle of nowhere in midst of thousands of olive trees. Perfect to calm down (no wifi included *thumbs up*).

Samstag, 22:30 Uhr: Endlich in Alghero (einem von übrigens drei Flughäfen auf Sardinien :D) gelandet. Auf in die erste Unterkunft, oder auch “In the Middle of Nowhere”. Inmitten von Tausenden Olivenbäumen befindet sich das kleine Häuschen der Wahl. Perfekt um ‘runterzukommen (es gibt dort auch kein WIFI *Daumen hoch*).

Sunday: Entire luggage packed into the car, off to the beach. Location change. The few hours at the beach near by Alghero passed by like minutes and the sun on the skin felt just as great as the salt of the sea in the hair. Back at it!

Sonntag: Aufbruchsstimmung in Unterkunft Nr.1. Ich war nur genau eine Nacht da, aber für meine Eltern heißt es an dieser Stelle Halbzeit und auf in den Süden der Insel. Mit einem ziemlich beladenen Auto geht es dann von dort aus erstmal zum Strand. Die Stunden an dem kleinen, aber feinen Strand in der Nähe von Alghero vergehen wie im Flug. Sonnenstrahlen auf der Haut, Meersalz im Haar und here I am.

No time to loose: We still had a road trip before us, as our next Air B’n’B was placed more in the south near by Oristano. The little village of our accommodation was called Allai. The home of only 300 people. But a beautiful home; surrounded by mountains, forests and a little river. The village itself consists of many little renovated stone houses with wine ranks and flowers everywhere. It is highlighted by a few pastel colored buildings (they are typical for Sardinia). 

Aber da die Strecke zur nächsten Unterkunft nicht die kürzeste ist, geht es mittags auch schon weiter. Das nächste Air B’n’B Häuschen liegt etwas südlicher, in der Nähe der Stadt Oristano. Im kleinen Ort Allai wohnen gerade mal 300 Leute (also quasi wie zu Hause :D). Dennoch ist Allai ein wahnsinnig schöner Ort: Umgeben von Bergen, Wäldern und einem kleinen Fluss erstreckt sich das italienische Dorf im Landesinneren von Sardinien. Allai selbst besteht aus vielen kleinen, schick renovierten Steinhäusern mit Weinranken und Blumen überall. Highlights sind vor allem die pastellfarbenen Fassaden (typisch für Sardinien). Mut zur Farbe haben sie dort auf jeden Fall ! 🙂

Already only two more days left for me in Bella Italia… Time to hit the beach again. But sightseeing of course is a must, too. So we decided to walk among the Capo S. Marco (in Tharros) in the morning.

Für mich sind es an dieser Stelle auch nur noch zwei ganze Tage in Bella Italia… Also nichts wie los zum Strand. Ein bisschen Sightseeing ist aber natürlich auch ein absolutes Muss! Also haben wir uns entschieden, den nächsten Morgen zum Ort Tharros zu fahren und das Capo S. Marco entlang zu wandern.

In the afternoon we start the search for the rice sand beaches. They are called rice sand beaches because of the white grit sand. The beaches of Is Arutas are simply amazing. Actually a little Maldives-look-a-like as the water is super turquoise through the white sand.

Am Nachmittag geht es dann auf die Suche nach den sogenannten Reiskornstränden, die durch ihren rein weißen Kieselsand das Meer türkis à la Malediven erscheinen lassen. Fazit: Die Strände von Is Arutas sind einfach traumhaft!

The colors at this beach are simply amazing. People often ask why I’m so pessimist about living in Germany. I want to explain you a major reason. In Germany 99% of the time it’s grey. Everything. The sky, the nature, life. Colors in nature make life so much more happy ! <3

On the way back to our accommodation we made a quick stop in Oristano. Also there I found the beautiful pastel colored houses, which are specially highlighting when the sun stands low. Sundset-time: The best thing at this time in Italy is sitting in front of a house wall and having a cool Aperol Spritz. And so we did.

Auf dem Rückweg zur Unterkunft bietet sich noch ein kleiner Walk durch Oristano an. Auch dieser Ort zeichnet sich besonders durch die pastellfarbenen Häuser aus, die im Sonnenlicht absolut schön sind. Da darf ein gemütlicher Aperol Spritz im Sonnenuntergang an einer windstillen Hauswand nicht fehlen… 😉

The last day was followed by a turbulent night with a big thunderstorm as I’ve never experienced at all. Anyway we started the day as always passing by the hotspots to see flamingos. We tried so hard to see them but this time we were unlucky. Maybe next time on Sardinia. Time for another beach day (of course heading to another beach). We were almost the only guests, that’s the advantage of going on holiday  during off-season. “Enjoying the last sun for this year”, I thought at that point. Now I know better that it won’t be like this. Stay tuned, I will let you know in the near future! 😉

Der letzte Tag bricht nach einer turbulenten Nacht an. Ich persönlich habe noch nie so ein starkes Gewitter miterlebt, wie das in dieser Nacht im Tal von Allai. Wir starten den Tag wie jeden Tag mit dem Abgrasen der Hotspots auf der verzweifelten Suche nach Flamingos. Ich hatte mir in den Kopf gesetzt, welche zu sehen, aber leider kann man sie ja auch nicht herbeigucken, sonst hätte ich das getan 😀 Dieses Mal hatten wir einfach kein Glück, aber es war bestimmt nicht die letzte Reise nach Sardinien. 🙂 Also Zeit für einen weiteren Strandtag (natürlich an einem anderen Strand). Wir waren fast die einzigen Gäste am Strand, das sind tatsächlich die Vorteile an der Nebensaison. Mir war an dieser Stelle nur wichtig, noch einmal die letzte Sonne für 2017 zu tanken, bevor es in den grauen Winter geht. Das es doch nicht das letzte Mal Sonne ist, wusste ich zu dem Zeitpunkt noch nicht. Dazu gibt es bald mehr in naher Zukunft, also stay tuned, wie immer ! 😉

Have you ever been to Sardinia (and could you see flamingos :D) ? Which is your favorite European Island ? I have to say that of course no island can compete with my second home Crete, but Sardinia actually is the follow-up together with Ibiza. However I wanted to share my impressions of Sardinia with you, I hope you enjoyed!

Seid ihr schon mal auf Sardinien gewesen (und habt Flamingos gesehen :D) ? Welche ist eure Lieblingsinsel in Europa ? Ich muss an dieser Stelle sagen, dass sich keine Insel mit meiner zweiten Heimat Kreta messen sollte, aber Sardinien ist ziemlich weit vorne, ungefähr gleich auf mit Ibiza. Wie auch immer, das waren meine Eindrücke von Sardinien. Ich bin gespannt auf eure Meinungen!
